PSFGB CHAPTER 39

Su Jingyang, Whose Child Are You Carrying?!

Su Jingyang’s entire mind felt as if it had been completely hollowed out. He didn’t know cold, and he didn’t know sleep. After collapsing to the ground, he maintained that position and sat motionless with vacant eyes until dawn.

In the morning, Rong Ci came to knock on the door. Su Jingyang seemed to have lost his soul. He treated it as if he hadn’t heard anything.

Rong Ci had already gotten used to being shut out these past few days, so he didn’t think anything was strange. He spoke a few more words outside about taking him out to ride horses. When he still received no response, he turned and left for the time being.

However, Rong Ci lived in the room next to his. He paid attention for a long while and realized there wasn’t the slightest movement from next door. That didn’t match Su Jingyang’s usual style of stirring up trouble.

At this hour every day, he would either have already gone to find Ling Li, or he would be roaming around the courtyard. Even if nothing was going on, he couldn’t sit still and would still come out to wander a couple laps.

Rong Ci finally sensed something was off, so he went to knock on Su Jingyang’s door again.

“Su Jingyang, open the door!” Rong Ci was certain Su Jingyang was inside. Yet no matter how hard he knocked and called his name, he didn’t get any response.

Rong Ci didn’t waste more time. In the end, he kicked the door open and went in. The moment he stepped inside, he saw Su Jingyang wearing only a thin under-robe, hair loose and disheveled, sitting on the floor. His gaze was dull, his lips pale, and he didn’t move at all, as if he had stiffened into a stone statue.

Seeing Su Jingyang in this ghostly state, Rong Ci’s breathing went a little unsteady. He strode over, crouched down, and reached out to touch him. Su Jingyang was ice-cold, with no warmth at all, which clearly meant he had been like this for a long time.

Rong Ci’s brow twitched hard twice, anger surging in his chest. He quickly picked him up and carried him to the bed, laid him flat, then wrapped him tightly in the blanket.

“What’s wrong with you? Why were you sitting on the floor?” Rong Ci used his hand to brush aside the messy strands at Su Jingyang’s cheek. Su Jingyang stared straight at the ceiling, still giving no reaction.

Rong Ci felt that Su Jingyang’s appearance of having received a massive shock came strangely, and he had no way to guess why the person who had still been lively yesterday, bouncing around, and hiding from him, would turn into this overnight.

“Su Jingyang?” Rong Ci patted his cheek. “Speak.”

Su Jingyang finally moved those eyes that seemed frozen in place. He flicked Rong Ci a glance. His mouth moved, and in the end he only rasped out, “Don’t bother with me.” His face stayed wooden as he tugged the blanket up and covered his head.

“Come out and explain it clearly. What happened?” Rong Ci’s expression sank. He tried to lift the blanket, but he couldn’t. Su Jingyang had it wrapped around himself too tightly.

After a while, Su Jingyang’s weak, exhausted voice came from under the blanket in broken fragments. “Just go... How many times do I have to tell you? Leave. It’s still not too late if you leave now. Don’t ever see me again in the future.”

“Why?” Rong Ci’s brows knitted. He couldn’t make sense of what Su Jingyang meant. “What do you mean it’s still not too late if I leave now?! What does that mean?!”

Su Jingyang refused to speak again no matter what. His body curled under the blanket, as if he wanted to hide there forever and cut himself off from the world.

Rong Ci’s cold gaze rested on the raised lump of blanket for a long time. Then he abruptly stood and left.

Truthfully, if he wanted to know something, he had methods to make a person speak the truth like a puppet. Still... he didn’t want to use those methods on Su Jingyang.

Rong Ci went to find Ling Li. He had to admit that in this situation, only Ling Li would have a way.

Not long after, Ling Li hurried over. He was walking so fast that he left Ming Zhan and Rong Ci, who had come along with him, behind.

The moment Ling Li entered the room, he lunged to the bedside. He sat down on the edge of the bed, leaned forward slightly, and touched the blanket with worry, trying to get Su Jingyang to come out. “Jingyang, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell somewhere?”

When Su Jingyang heard Ling Li’s voice, he yanked the blanket off in one sharp motion and revealed his head.

He had forced it down all night. Now that he saw Ling Li’s face, his eyes finally reddened uncontrollably.

Su Jingyang had actually long anticipated that a day like this would come, and he tried to prepare himself for it. When it truly arrived, he still found it hard to accept.

The child in his belly, to him, was a punishment devoid of any humanity.

He didn’t want it, yet he also couldn’t not want it.

If he didn’t want it, the system would still force him to carry a second, a third.

Su Jingyang was in terrible pain, and it was the sort of pain he couldn’t speak of to anyone. At this moment, when he saw Ling Li’s concerned eyes and thought of his own miserable ordeal, the grievances in his chest had nowhere to pour out. They could only turn into tears swirling in his eyes.

He still forced himself not to cry. He looked at Ling Li with tear-filled eyes. His throat was tight with pain as he said, “I’m not feeling unwell. It’s just, it’s just... something happened all of a sudden.”

Su Jingyang never planned to hide this from Ling Li. If his belly gradually grew in the future, he wouldn’t be able to hide it anyway. Rather than let Ling Li get shocked later, it was better to let him know early.

However... there was still a stubborn knot in his heart that kept him from being able to say the words “I’m pregnant.”

Ling Li froze for a moment, then grabbed his hand and asked, “What happened all of a sudden? Is it serious? We should call a physician to take a look.”

Out of the corner of his eye, Su Jingyang saw Rong Ci standing in the room with his arms folded, silent and wordless. Su Jingyang’s throat rolled several times with difficulty. His lips trembled twice. He was gathering courage to tell Ling Li.

At that exact moment, Ling Li, still holding his hand, noticed something. He spread Su Jingyang’s slightly curled fingers fully open, took a careful look, and instantly went deathly pale as he stared at Su Jingyang. His voice trembled. “Jingyang, you...”

Ling Li’s face was full of shock. Su Jingyang could feel the hand gripping and is trembling nonstop.

Su Jingyang knew Ling Li had discovered it. He slowly pulled his hand back, braced himself, and sat up little by little. His face was ashen.

Ling Li suddenly turned his head to look toward Rong Ci. Su Jingyang looked over at the same time. He met Rong Ci’s deep, dark, icy eyes. Su Jingyang steeled his heart and clenched his teeth. His tone turned stiff as he said, “Yes. The mole’s color has darkened...” He looked like he was responding to Ling Li, but he was deliberately saying it for Rong Ci to hear.

Su Jingyang’s intention was to use this chance to give Rong Ci a harsh medicine, making him give up quickly and stop wasting effort.

The words hadn’t even finished when Su Jingyang felt a dark shadow rush in front of him. His wrist was seized in a grip like iron. The force was so strong it made him wince in pain.

“What are you doing?!”

Rong Ci held his wrist so he couldn’t move. He stared at Su Jingyang’s palm for a moment. His breathing visibly stalled for an instant. Then the gaze that held a brewing storm snapped up to Su Jingyang’s face. Horrifying bloodshot veins filled his eyes. That dark expression looked as if it was about to devour someone alive.

Rong Ci’s voice was like icy snow and cold wind, so cold it made a person shiver. He demanded, “Su Jingyang, whose child are you carrying?!!”

Of all the possibilities Rong Ci had considered for his early morning abnormality, he had thought of everything except this head-on blow waiting for him!

Pregnant! He was actually pregnant! Rong Ci’s dark, chilling eyes locked onto Su Jingyang’s indifferent, pale face. A brief, twisted distortion flashed across Rong Ci’s expression. His breathing grew heavier and heavier.

An intense, surging malevolent energy burned and coursed throughout his body. For an instant, he even had the impulse to viciously strangle him. He nearly exhausted all his strength just to suppress it.

“Speak! Whose child is this?!!”

Rong Ci’s reaction made Ling Li’s eyes widen in disbelief. Ling Li couldn’t imagine what he was hearing. Even Ming Zhan, who had been sitting at the table in leisurely silence, flashed a surprised glance this way.

“Jingyang, what is this, what is going on? You...” Ling Li panicked and didn’t know what to do.

When Ling Li saw the mole in Su Jingyang’s palm darken, he subconsciously assumed the child had to be Rong Ci’s. Looking at Rong Ci’s furious reaction now... it wasn’t?

What could possibly have happened when he didn’t know?! How could it be like this?!

Su Jingyang yanked his hand back hard. His voice was extremely cold, and his tone was equally stiff as he said to Rong Ci, “Who I’m carrying doesn’t concern you. Also, with the relationship between us, I don’t think I have any need to explain it to you.”

Su Jingyang was determined to use this opportunity to make Rong Ci completely retreat, so his words showed no mercy.

He quickly realized Rong Ci’s expression was vicious like a ghost. His eyes were full of bloodshot red veins. Even the veins at his temple were standing out. The corner of his mouth was twitching with rage. Rong Ci’s reaction was far bigger than Su Jingyang had expected!

Su Jingyang was used to being casual with him. Even when Su Jingyang had directly rejected him before, Rong Ci always looked indifferent and even quite unrestrained. This was the first time Su Jingyang had ever seen him this terrifying, as if he’d become a different person.

Realizing he had truly provoked him, Su Jingyang’s scalp went numb. A stuffy heaviness also rose in his chest for reasons he couldn’t name, so he shut his mouth and didn’t say anything else.

Su Jingyang didn’t dare look at Rong Ci’s reaction anymore. He steadied his breath, then said with difficulty to Ling Li in a trembling voice, “Ah Li, don’t ask. I only found out today too. Asking me won’t help, I can’t explain it either... Anyway, this is how things are.”

Only found out today. If they counted the timing...

Ling Li’s expression changed in an instant. Rong Ci seemed to think of a certain possibility too. Almost at the same time as Ling Li, he turned his head and looked toward Ming Zhan.

Recently, Su Jingyang had been with them the entire time, except for that night a few days ago, when he’d spent one night in this estate.

Ming Zhan, who had only been watching the show from the side, finally paused his tea-drinking motion because of the two gazes thrown at him. He set his teacup down unhurriedly. He knew what they were suspecting. His eyes were icy cold as he said, “Wrongs have their doer, and debts have their debtor. Don’t go looking for the wrong person.”

Ming Zhan then gave Ling Li a smile that didn’t reach his eyes “Ah Li, try daring to suspect me again.”

Ling Li hurriedly withdrew his gaze and didn’t dare look at him again.

Su Jingyang immediately understood that they had misunderstood and thought he had something to do with Ming Zhan. He instantly bristled. He waved his hands frantically. “It’s not him, it’s not him! It’s definitely not him! Ah Li, don’t misunderstand! I have absolutely nothing to do with him!”

Ling Li’s heart was so anxious it felt like it was about to shatter. No matter how he asked next, Su Jingyang remained vague about the identity of the child’s father and refused to say it.

Ling Li truly had no choice. He looked at Su Jingyang’s terrible complexion, full of helpless panic.

In the end, Ling Li begged Ming Zhan, wanting to stay and keep Su Jingyang company. Ming Zhan exchanged a glance with Rong Ci, then reached out without discussion and grabbed Ling Li’s hand, tugging him along. “No. Come back with me.”

Bitterness rose in Ling Li’s heart. In the end, he could only leave Su Jingyang with one sentence. “Rest well. I’ll come see you tomorrow.” Then he was taken away by Ming Zhan.

After they left, Rong Ci didn’t leave.

No one else remained in the room. Su Jingyang already felt a little rattled inside. Now that he could still feel Rong Ci’s gaze locked on him, his whole body stiffened even more.

“Y-you... why are you still not leaving?” Su Jingyang didn’t look at him. He forced himself to ask.

Rong Ci said suddenly, “After thinking it over, you came up with using this method to make me completely give up?”

Su Jingyang sat cross-legged on the bed and let out a heavy breath. “You’re overthinking it. Having a child is just an accident. I wasn’t deliberately trying to provoke you. I’m not that bored. If I could choose, I wouldn’t want this child either!”

Rong Ci suddenly pressed in close. One hand clamped hard on the back of Su Jingyang’s head, leaving him nowhere to dodge. There was no emotion in Rong Ci’s eyes. “I’ve been watching you every moment these days. It was only that one night... If it wasn’t Ming Zhan, then who was it?!”

“I don’t know, I don’t know! No comment!” Su Jingyang pushed at him while snapping in anger. “How the f*ck would I know who it was?!”

As soon as Su Jingyang finished shouting, he felt two quick taps on his body. After a wave of numbness swept over him, he went limp and collapsed onto the bed.

Rong Ci didn’t say a word. He began pulling Su Jingyang’s outer robe over him.

Su Jingyang realized what he was doing. Anger surged, followed by panic. “Rong Ci, Rong Ci, what are you doing? Why did you seal my pressure points? I’m telling you, this is kidnapping! This is illegal! You’ll get sentenced! Let me go! Let me go right now!!”

“I said it already. I can’t let go.” Rong Ci helped him up and let him lean against his own chest. He patiently finished dressing him and straightened his clothes. His expression at this moment was much calmer than before.

“Even if you can’t let go, you still have to!” Su Jingyang said. “The two of us never had that kind of fate to begin with. Dragging me by force is useless! I won’t be with you.”

Rong Ci looked into those beautiful dark eyes that flickered with anger. He paused for a moment, then leaned in and kissed Su Jingyang’s forehead.

He said to him, “Jingyang, it doesn’t matter if you refuse me and hide from me. I originally wanted to be more patient, to let you come around and accept me. I miscalculated.”

Rong Ci’s long fingers brushed over his cheek. His gaze was deep and bottomless. In a low voice, he said, “Now, I’m taking you back to Rongcheng.”
