Chapter 56 — Stallion ML Meltdown (8) | It Is All a Misunderstanding!
At the suitor’s very insistent request, the emperor and his minister planned a second “hero saves the beauty” operation.
It was a moonless, windy night. The two lay in wait in a spooky alley where people had vanished in bizarre ways long ago. Over time it became known to everyone as the “Ghost Lane.”
The girl they targeted happened to be obsessed with the supernatural, so instead of the short route home she purposely made a detour just to pass through the rumored haunt.
Which was why they chose this place.
The Butcher was thrilled to the core. This was such an atmospheric set and location.
“Ready.”
Spotting their mark, Xing Ge carefully poked the man beside her.
The Grand Chancellor tied a mask over his face with unhurried grace. His slender fingers brushed back a stray lock of hair. The line of his wrist was absurdly elegant.
Xing Ge: …
It is just a face covering. Why the ceremony?
Also, could you not look at me while doing it? Those silky eyes are dangerous. My imperial heart is not steady.
At least he sprang out as soon as he was done.
“This mountain was carved by me. This tree was planted by me. If you want to pass this way, hand over the toll.”
Expression blank, the Grand Chancellor recited the lines prepared by a certain “director.”
The girl’s eyes lit up at once.
Even with the black cloth, this “robber” was tall and long-limbed, brows like blades. Where would she find a bandit of this walking calamity level again, even with a lantern?
She ducked her head, cheeks pink. “Are you… here to rob my virtue?”
Grand Chancellor: “…”
Uh. How did one respond to that?
First day on the job as a bandit. He was not fully trained.
He had no choice but to use a secret voice transmission.
“Your Majesty, what should I do now?”
“You are being dense. Go up, push her against the wall, then give an evil little smile, lift her chin…”
Xing Ge was extremely enthusiastic as she rattled off “how to pick up girls” tips.
The more he listened, the darker his face became. A chill flickered in his eyes.
“Heh. You sound very experienced, Your Majesty. I suppose you have wandered through a thousand flowers without a single leaf clinging to you?”
“What?”
Before Xing Ge could work it out, the Butcher crouching beside her was booted into the air. He landed with a splat in front of the girl he fancied, eating dirt in spectacular fashion.
That was it. He was finished.
His image. Gone.
The Butcher would have loved to slice the kicker into a thousand pieces.
“Are… are you alright? Did you come especially to save me?” The girl’s eyes were nothing but stars.
The Butcher’s weathered face went scarlet.
Meanwhile, Xing Ge saw stars of a different kind from where she had been thrown. Her back hit the cold wall.
One of the Grand Chancellor’s hands braced by her face. In the dark his eyes were like ghostly fire. “Why not teach me, Your Majesty. Show me what it means to ‘rob virtue.’”
Xing Ge stared at him for several seconds. With that momentum she had thought he meant to assassinate his lord.
Scared her half to death.
“That? Easy. I will teach you.”
Relieved, she launched straight into Lecture Hour, eager to be a good instructor.
When it came to “wall-pin techniques,” Xing Ge was quite proud. The previous cannon-fodder system had uploaded a whole library of pick-up skills into her head.
Tragically, she never had a chance to use them. So depressing.
She vowed to make the most of them today and win the girl back for their side.
“First, pin her to the wall.”
Xing Ge twisted with neat timing. Using leverage, she flipped the positions and pressed him to the wall instead.
“Next, lower your head and pinch her chin.”
“Remember, your gaze must be tender, with just a hint of naughtiness.”
“And finally you lean in and kis— mmpf—”
He leaned in first. His lips came down. Warm. Soft as mochi.
Xing Ge: “!!!”
Good heavens, what was this situation?
“Hmm. Sweet.”
He flicked the edge of her mouth with the tip of his red tongue, indescribably charming and seductive.
Help. My Grand Chancellor seems to have gone full yandere. What do I do?
No, focus. If I do not run now, I will end up dead.
Xing Ge bolted.
“Whap.”
A long leg snapped out in midair and hooked her. She went down.
Xing Ge: Holy sh*t, so cheap! Was this still the clear breeze and bright moon, unparalleled Grand Chancellor I know?!
“Help, help QAQ!”
He was going to eat her down to the bones.
She shot out a desperate reaching hand toward the pair “whispering sweet nothings” a short distance away.
The female official twisted her fingers shyly. “Um… do you like ghosts?”
The Butcher’s smile froze. “I-i l-like them.”
“Perfect. Then let us go to Yin Demon Valley tomorrow. I heard you can see ghosts there even in broad daylight. So exciting!”
Yes. Truly exciting.
Butcher agreed with a mournful face.
Was he going to die before he even held hands?
“What is wrong? Are you scared?” Sensing his nerves, the girl thumped her chest heroically. “Do not worry. I will protect you.” She grabbed his big hand. “See, like this you will not be afraid.”
The Butcher blushed furiously.
Xing Ge, spectating: “…”
She took one hundred thousand points of emotional damage.
Then the would-be rescue failed, and Xing Ge was dragged away by a certain someone.
She left a trail of tragic scrape marks in the dirt.
It! Was! Over!
“Wait, brother, calm down!”
Xing Ge could only try to save herself.
“Calm? Calm about what? I am perfectly calm. I do not need to be calmer. Is it Your Majesty who needs calming? Do not worry, I will make sure you calm down very thoroughly.” Yu Ge arched a brow and unfastened the jade and belt at his waist.
Xing Ge was dizzy from his barrage of “calm.” By the time she reacted, half her clothes had been tugged open, baring a solid chest.
There were red claw marks across it.
Yu Ge narrowed his eyes. A dangerous light flashed.
“It seems Your Majesty had quite a vigorous battle last night.”
He gave a soft laugh. His cool fingers skimmed her chest like a sharp blade, ready to spill blood three feet.
“It is a misunderstanding. It is all a misunderstanding!”
Xing Ge really could not clear her name even if she jumped into theLast night she had only been teasing her ugly chick because she felt like it and snatched all its snacks. The little fiend had puffed up and raked her several times. Luckily it did not scratch her handsome face.
“Listen to my explanation—”
“Explanation? Hah. I do not need it!”
He preferred to punish people with actions.
“F***, do not pull my pants!”
“Stop, you beast!”
“I—%#¥%&*…”
Author's Note:
