He Even F*ing Gave Birth to Them Himself
“Hope you’ll fall in love with me soon. When the time comes, I’ll tell you something.”
“If someone hid something very important from you, what would you do?”
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, Jingyang.”
...
Su Jingyang finally, completely, understood!
He had barged into the Wuqun Mountain’s forbidden ground, yet he hadn’t shown any of the reactions Yun Qi described. There was only one possible explanation. The children in his belly were direct blood of the Rong clan!
That man in the dream was fundamentally Rong Ci!!!
Rong Ci had clearly noticed long ago, but he had kept it from him the entire time. He had lied to him, deceived him, and treated him like a fool!
Su Jingyang only felt a surge of anger rush to the top of his head. His blood roared through his whole body. His eyes went red. A violent pain crashed into his abdomen so suddenly that he could no longer support himself. He let out a low, agonized groan, his body trembling as he sagged, going limp as he sank downward.
Before his bottom could hit the ground, a pair of arms caught him in time. He was pulled close into a familiar-smelling embrace. His lashes quivered violently, and a furious shout exploded by his ear, “How did you end up here?! Who brought you here?! Yun Qi, why are you just standing there?! Go find a physician, now!!!”
Su Jingyang felt himself lifted, his body rising and falling with the man’s frantic, rushing steps.
Sweat poured off him like rain. His breathing was heavy and ragged. His bloodshot eyes held hateful tears, and he wanted nothing more than to kill this detestable man with his gaze. Then another dragging, sinking pain hit his belly. His head fell back weakly, face ghastly pale as he cried out.
Rong Ci’s breathing was chaotic, his voice urgent. “Jingyang, don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid. We’ll find a physician soon. Don’t be afraid.”
Su Jingyang had already twisted his clothes into a wrinkled mess with his hands. He ground his teeth and endured, shaking his head hard, unable to force out a single word.
In the chaos, Su Jingyang heard Ling Li’s voice, Li Yin’s voice. He didn’t know who was calling his name, telling him not to be afraid. Hurried footsteps ran back and forth by his ears. When Rong Ci gently set him down on a bed, sweat and tear tracks crisscrossed his face, and the wetness between his legs felt even worse.
He felt like something was seriously wrong. While Li Yin checked his pulse and pressed at his belly, Su Jingyang’s tear-blurred eyes didn’t know where to look, full of only blankness and panic.
He felt a hand clamp tightly around his. He didn’t know where the strength came from, but he struggled to wrench his fingers free and shoved that hand away, pushing it far away.
Physician Li’s gentle voice carried a force that calmed hearts. “Furen, you’re going to give birth now, but don’t be afraid. The City Lord is here, I’m here, the midwife is here, and Young Master Ling Li is here with you. We absolutely won’t let anything happen to you. From here on, you only need to do exactly what I tell you to do, all right?”
Tears slid down Su Jingyang’s cheeks to the edge of his ear. His nose was sore and swollen, stuffed until it hurt. He listened and nodded obediently, his breath uneven as he rasped, “Alright.”
He completely ignored the person at the head of the bed. His eyes searched to the side as he called, “Ah Li, Ah Li.”
Ling Li hurriedly wiped his tears with the back of his hand and rushed forward to clasp Su Jingyang’s outstretched hand. “I’m here. I’m right here, Jingyang.”
“Ah Li, stay with me.” Su Jingyang squeezed his hand hard in return. A thick sourness suddenly surged up in his chest. “Stay with me, okay?”
Ling Li said, “Okay, okay. I’m here. I won’t go anywhere. Don’t worry.”
Su Jingyang didn’t understand childbirth, but he knew this was a premature labor. The risk of something going wrong for him and the children was high. In that moment, he had almost already prepared himself for the worst.
Ling Li fed him a bit of some kind of broth. He didn’t get to stay calm for long. Very quickly, waves of pain swallowed him, each one harsher than the last, the intervals shortening more and more. From bright daylight outside all the way until dusk fell, he writhed on the bed in agony.
His waist and bottom felt like they were being crushed by a ton of weight grinding down mercilessly. The hand that had been holding Ling Li’s finally let go. He pounded the bed hard, tears nearly spraying out of his eyes.
In that moment, he finally had his answer.
Could giving birth really hurt that much?
It hurt. It hurt until it tore his heart apart, until it was inhuman, until it felt like he was suffering the cruelest punishment in the world!
All of his willpower was completely smashed to pieces. His face twisted as he cried and screamed, “Rong Ci!! Rong Ci! I’ll fight you to the death!!! Ah!!!!!!!!!!!”
Rong Ci, who had been guarding the bedside the entire time, gripped Su Jingyang’s hand tightly. His voice sounded like it was trembling apart. “Jingyang, hold on. As long as you deliver the children safely, you can do whatever you want to me afterward. Anything. You have to hold on right now, alright?”
Su Jingyang was in unbearable pain, whole body shaking, snot and tears flowing. He shook his head hard. “I want to go home, I want to go home! I don’t want to be here, I want to go home!! I want to go home!!!”
Ever since Su Jingyang started crying, Ling Li had been sobbing along with him. His eyes were swollen from crying. Yet faced with this, he was completely helpless.
When he turned his head and looked at Rong Ci, who stood at the bedside like a stone statue, his mind only grew more chaotic.
Back then, when he hadn’t left with Su Jingyang, he had immediately gone to find Li Yin and the midwife. He had rushed to gather everything and then run toward the Wuqun Mountain with the medicine bottles, terrified something might happen. Sure enough, Su Jingyang’s pregnancy had been jolted, and he was going into labor.
They found a nearby private home, then cleared out a clean room as a delivery room as quickly as possible. However, Ling Li didn’t understand why Su Jingyang suddenly resisted Rong Ci. He had no idea what had happened. Rong Ci’s face had looked terrible then too, his lips drained of all color. After placing Su Jingyang on the bed, his legs went soft and he nearly collapsed to the ground.
Li Yin worried Rong Ci had suffered injuries on the mountain and wanted to examine him, but Rong Ci pushed him away and said it was nothing serious.
In that way, everyone in the room suffered through it together until dawn of the next day. Su Jingyang had been in pain until he was delirious, unable to even scream. Rong Ci clutched his hand, eyes rimmed red, hoarsely calling his name continuously. “Jingyang...” Rong Ci turned to look at Li Yin, but Li Yin still shook his head.
Another hour dragged by. Li Yin checked Su Jingyang, and it still wouldn’t happen. He could only have the brewed medicine brought over and fed to Su Jingyang. Yet less than a quarter of an hour later, Su Jingyang realized the pain from before hadn’t even been the worst of it. Li Yin told him to adjust his breathing and taught him how to push downward with force.
Su Jingyang felt like his brain had turned numb wood. It took him a long while to understand what Li Yin meant. He gripped Rong Ci’s hand tightly and did exactly as he was told.
“Very good, very good. Keep going, push harder.”
Su Jingyang heard that sentence so many times his ears rang, yet the baby still wouldn’t come.
He was already at the edge of collapse. He wanted to die. At that moment, the system suddenly let out a cold laugh. “How is it? How does giving birth feel? Does it hurt?”
Hearing the system’s voice at a time like this was the strongest blow and the sharpest provocation possible for Su Jingyang. He suddenly lost all strength. A broken, despairing scream tore out of him, so close to collapse that everyone in the room was stunned.
“Jingyang, Jingyang!” Rong Ci and Ling Li nearly had their souls scared out of their bodies. Yet Su Jingyang quickly swallowed his tears, readjusted his breathing, and continued to push with a long, sustained effort. When he ran out of strength, he drank another bowl of ginseng soup. When the light in the room gradually dimmed again, it still hadn’t happened.
Just as Su Jingyang was almost despairing, he finally heard Li Yin and the midwife cry out in delight, “We can see the head, we can see the head!! Furen, keep going, keep holding on!”
It felt like finding a sliver of light in endless darkness. Su Jingyang finally saw hope. His cheeks flushed red. He sucked in a deep breath, gathered every ounce of strength, and pushed down hard.
Then, after a searing burst of pain, he felt a lump of something slide out of his body. A loud wail followed immediately, and Li Yin’s joyous announcement rang out, “Congratulations to the City Lord and Furen, it’s a young master. But there’s still another one, Furen. You have to keep pushing.”
Push, push! Su Jingyang had no other choice but to push.
Thankfully, this time he didn’t have to endure much more torment. In less than a quarter of an hour, the second child came out too. The crying sounded a little weaker. Li Yin said it was also a boy.
Su Jingyang collapsed back onto the bed, gulping air in huge breaths. The sudden lightness made his whole body feel unreal, his mind blank.
Born. He gave birth?!!!
Hearing the room fill with overlapping sobs, and Ling Li’s voice crying with joy, Su Jingyang finally dared to believe it. Two days and one night, he had actually counted the hours and made it through.
He had become a father.
He even f*ing gave birth to them himself!
When Su Jingyang looked at his belly, now deflated, he couldn’t even describe what he felt. While he sat there blankly, Rong Ci suddenly wrapped him into a tight embrace. Su Jingyang only felt his breathing was hot and damp. Soon something scalding dripped down onto his forehead, his face.
That heat startled Su Jingyang into freezing. Originally wanting to push him away, his hand paused in midair before weakly withdrawing.
Ling Li and the midwife brought the two children over, already washed and wrapped in swaddling cloth, and held them up for Su Jingyang to see. Ling Li said softly, “Jingyang, look. I’m holding the older one, and the midwife is holding the younger one.”
Rong Ci straightened a little, no longer blocking Su Jingyang’s view. Su Jingyang lifted his eyes and saw two tiny faces that were almost impossible to tell apart. They had probably cried, because their delicate cheeks were flushed red all over. Their mouths were pink and plump, and they even puckered a little now and then.
A strange numb itch rose in Su Jingyang’s heart. It didn’t hurt, but it was unfamiliar. He hurriedly shifted his gaze away.
So small!
So much baby hair!
Their lip shape… looked like Rong Ci…
Even though they weren’t full term, they looked healthy.
Su Jingyang noticed Rong Ci glance back too, but Rong Ci’s expression didn’t seem to change much as he instructed the midwife to take the children out first. Ling Li murmured to Su Jingyang, “Jingyang, rest well.” After taking a few steps, he turned back to look at him once more. In the end, he carried the child and followed the others out.
Rong Ci helped Su Jingyang clean up and change clothes. Su Jingyang also didn’t want anyone else touching him for something like this, so he stayed silent and didn’t resist, letting Rong Ci handle it.
After finishing, Rong Ci kissed his forehead. “Sleep for a while.”
“I’m sleeping, get away from me!” Su Jingyang finally gathered a bit of strength and shoved him hard through clenched teeth.
Even if he had strength right now, he couldn’t have pushed that hard, yet Rong Ci actually stumbled from it, nearly toppling backward. Su Jingyang startled. Instinctively, he reached out to catch him.
“...What are you doing? Trying to gain my sympathy?” Su Jingyang’s chest filled with anger again, but then he remembered Rong Ci had been trapped on the mountain for five days before he made it back. Maybe he was injured somewhere. Su Jingyang wanted to ask, but he held it in, and stubbornly swallowing it down. After hesitating a long time, he still didn’t ask. He only stared blankly at Rong Ci’s pale face.
Rong Ci looked helpless. He rubbed Su Jingyang’s cheek. “I’m fine. You just scared me, and my legs went a little weak.”
Su Jingyang said coldly, “I don’t care if you’re fine or not. I wasn’t worried about you. Get away from me. I’m going to rest. You big liar!”
Rong Ci took a quiet breath to steady himself. Only then did the corner of his mouth lift into a faint curve again. He spoke gently. “Sleep. Build up your strength. When you wake up, if you want to kill me or tear me apart, I’ll accept it all.”
“You just wait!”
“Alright.”
Su Jingyang closed his eyes, then opened them again, glaring at him. “Why are you still here?”
Rong Ci looked at him quietly. “I’m not leaving. I’ll stay here with you, all right?”
“I don’t want you with me.” Su Jingyang brushed off the hand that was touching his cheek and rolled over, turning his back on him.
Su Jingyang was too exhausted. Out of the corner of his eye, he stole a few glances behind him, hesitated in his heart several times. He had wanted to ask after all, but the overwhelming tide of sleep crushed down on him, and he sank into it.
Just as Li Yin said, once the children were born, his back truly didn’t hurt anymore. After all those days, he finally managed to sleep peacefully.
But when he woke in the middle of the night from hunger and turned his head, he found that the person who had promised to stay with him wasn’t beside him at all. The one keeping watch over him was Ling Li.
