AM CHAPTER 60

60: Does He Like Me?

The cramped space of the stall left Shen Jin with nowhere to retreat.

Qian Kun stepped closer. This time, he no longer restrained his predatory aura. His gaze alone was overwhelming.

“Can you at least listen to me first?” Shen Jin stared nervously at Qian Kun’s movements.

Before Shen Jin could think of a response, Qian Kun yanked him against the door. The movement was clearly visible, yet impossible to evade, so fast it felt like something forever out of reach.

Cheers from the stadium drifted in from afar. What Shen Jin could hear though, was only the Alpha’s heated breathing, followed by a low murmur, “I don’t want to listen right now.”

With one hand, he pinned Shen Jin’s wrists. His fingers slid to the inhibitor patch, and Shen Jin trembled as he felt it torn away.

As the sweet scent spilled out, scorching heat surged forward and seized control.

Shen Jin’s consciousness blurred. His chest pressed against the cold wooden door, while behind him was molten lava. Silent danger shot through his glands and spread to every limb.

In his haze, Shen Jin heard voices outside the door, a few students chatting.

“No way, there’s a sign saying this area’s being cleaned!”

“I thought the outside restrooms would be emptier. Turns out they’re worse than the ones inside.”

The voices were close. Qian Kun felt the person beneath him trembling like a small animal, desperate to break free yet terrified of being discovered, quivering as if seeking rescue.

Qian Kun didn’t cover his mouth. He even left him a chance to call for help. By the time the voices faded away, Shen Jin still hadn’t said a word.

Qian Kun, who had been overwhelmed by anger and fear, froze for a moment, his impulsiveness diminishing slightly.

His chest, which had felt ready to burst moments ago, could finally appreciate the sweetness filling the room. What had been an overly fierce marking process became slow and grinding instead.

Shen Jin actually found the slow pace harder to endure. Every cell in his body seemed to divide and expand, spreading endlessly. The pleasure almost made him cry out.

Someone with top-tier pheromones could effortlessly make the marked person swing between hell and heaven.

After an unknown amount of time, Shen Jin dimly realized the mark was complete.

Before he could relax, the Alpha didn’t release him. Instead, he sucked lightly once more.

Shen Jin let out a muffled sound and nearly collapsed into the Alpha’s arms.

Their breaths and sweat mingled. A deep mark also consumed mental energy for the Alpha.

Even so, he was satisfied. Shen Jin was soaked through with his scent.

“Why didn’t you fight back?” Qian Kun’s breathing was uneven, though the terrifying pressure had already vanished.

Shen Jin had no idea what madness Qian Kun was on. His lashes trembled. He was too angry to say anything.

Why didn’t I fight back? You tell me.

Silence followed.

Qian Kun seemed to realize something. He stared blankly at the back of Shen Jin’s head.

The sweat-damp glands glimmered faintly. Even the shadows of his hair couldn’t hide how tempting they were. This time, Qian Kun had no mind to admire them.

Almost reflexively, he said, “You were waiting for Ke Minghuai just now, weren’t you?”

He had wanted to seize the moment. By the time Ke Minghuai arrived, it would already be too late to change anything.

Qian Kun never denied his own possessiveness.

Shen Jin finally understood the misunderstanding and snapped back, “Why would I wait for him? You’re the one who signed the agreement with me.”

“Then earlier…”

“Earlier was a coincidence. He just told me what I needed to do later. It was normal work discussion.” Once Shen Jin realized he had the upper hand, his words spilled out rapidly.

Shen Jin didn’t mention that Ke Minghuai had noticed he wasn’t feeling well and asked if he needed help, which Shen Jin had refused outright.

Even without Qian Kun, Shen Jin would never let Ke Minghuai handle something that private again.

Qian Kun opened his mouth, utterly lacking the feral bloodlust from moments ago. Now he looked more like an elderly phone frozen mid-lag.

“Then why did you say you wanted to break up?”

Shen Jin had regained some strength. He shook free with ease, turned around, and finally faced the tall Alpha.

The tide had turned.

With arms crossed, Shen Jin narrowed his eyes, studying the Alpha who’d trapped himself deeper and deeper in a faulty line of reasoning.

“I wasn’t wrong. You were avoiding me.” It wasn’t a question.

“……”

Connections clicked rapidly in Shen Jin’s mind. He thought for a moment, then said, “So you think I’d go back on my word? Or that I don’t keep my promises?”

“Of course not!” Qian Kun said at once.

What he truly feared was the nine years he hadn’t been part of, and the old feelings Ke Minghuai kept stirring up.

What Shen Jin felt toward him was mostly gratitude. The only thing Qian Kun held was that flimsy agreement, something that could be torn up at any moment. What could he possibly use to compete with Ke Minghuai?

Clutching the agreement was his only retreat.

“Do you know why I’ve been trying to talk to you all this time?” Shen Jin paused. “I wanted to be honest about why I wanted to break up, and then let you decide. Now though, I’m not saying it anymore.”

You didn’t want to listen just now. Well, perfect. I don’t want to talk anymore either.

He was determined to get back every bit of the scare he’d just suffered, with interest.

Shen Jin ignored Qian Kun’s panicked expression and opened the restroom door without resistance.

He took a few steps out. He looked calm, yet his heart was anything but.

Shen Jin remembered a long time ago, when Qian Kun had pinned him down in their dark dorm room and said, can you stop being with him.

The “him” was Ke Minghuai.

Why did he care so much about Ke Minghuai? Was it really just dislike?

Many doubts had always been there. He just hadn’t thought them through.

Ever since Shen Jin brought up breaking up, Qian Kun had kept avoiding and interrupting him, as if afraid he’d bring it up again.

The terrifying pressure revealed earlier hinted at an answer. Or maybe the confusion had already been planted in Shen Jin’s heart long ago.

Why would Qian Kun hide his identity just to sign a marking agreement with him, claiming it was simply helping out? Why was it that rainy morning, when the person who hated rabbits had been exposed?

Shen Jin looked down at his shoes. Once, an Alpha had knelt on one knee to tie his laces.

Even now, recalling that moment made his heart tighten.

That single act had stayed with him, gnawing at him, until he had finally asked outright.

After receiving a denial, he never dared to suspect again.

Shen Jin’s breathing hitched. His trembling fingers covered his mouth.

One clue after another linked together.

An answer was about to surface.

Qian Kun seems to really like me.
