Chapter 52 — Stallion ML Meltdown (4) | The Supporting Male’s Daily Snark
After dealing with the male lead, Xing Ge strolled back to the palace.
First she admired her exceptionally handsome face in the mirror, then she prepared to summon the new system.
According to Eggy, this was an unstoppable, all-target, heaven-piercing, earth-burrowing, super-invincible, do-everything system.
Absolutely badass.
Her chrys— cough, her life would be saved by this thing.
Carefully, she set the golden egg on the stand.
“Crack.”
The shell split. A dusty little chick wobbled out, tried to put its left claw on its right, and promptly toppled onto its back with a splat.
Seriously? Was this thing here to do slapstick?
Xing Ge: “…”
Could she still refuse delivery? How much was interdimensional return postage again?
The tiny idiot lay belly-up, straining to flip over, white tummy to the sky.
Sweetie, you are a chick, not a turtle!
She could not bear to watch. With one finger she flipped it upright. It gave a soft whimper. “D-daddy… Daddy…”
Xing Ge: “…”
Daddy my *ss!
Little friend, let me tell you, randomly claiming relatives is very dangerous behavior!
The real comedy came a moment later. The Grand Chancellor entered in plain clothes, and the little thing suddenly got excited, all its fluff standing up. “Cool! Cool!”
So even an ugly chick has a face fetish.
Xing Ge rolled her eyes.
The chancellor pinched the chick by the scruff, curious. “How can there be such an ugly creature in this world?”
Xing Ge suddenly felt unwell. This “ugliest creature in the world” had just called her “Daddy.”
Then again, she thought it through. It was not like she was the mother.
Balance restored.
“Beloved Minister Yu, I will be away for a while. Do handle court affairs in my absence,” Xing Ge said, eager to dump the workload and go out to… ahem… tour the realm.
The chancellor smiled, the tear mole at the corner of his eye extra bewitching. “What has come over Your Majesty today? You used to call me Little Gege when we watched the stars and the moon. Have you found a new favorite to treat me so coldly?”
His surname was Yu, single given name Ge. He had the face of a flower and the figure of a reed, fragile as a breeze, like a refined, pretty scholar waiting in a tale to be harvested by a femme-ghost for tonic.
Xing Ge: “…”
He is flirting with me, right? He is absolutely flirting with me. He is.
No. Keep it together.
In this shameless world crawling with harem protagonists, a noble ice-queen like herself would protect her chastity.
So she answered coolly, “That was the past. Let it stay there.”
Yu Ge smiled again. “Your Majesty, may I ask one last question?”
Expressionless, Xing Ge rattled off, “Yu Ge: “…”
It was rare to see him choked speechless. Feeling she had finally scored a point, Xing Ge waved cheerfully. “If not, then it is settled. Minister, go wash up and sleep.”
Her mission this round was clear: keep the country from destruction.
Which was why she figured cutting off the human stallion known as the male lead in his cradle would solve everything.
She secretly had a fortress-like dungeon constructed. The plan was to lock the male lead up for a few decades until the sharp edges were ground off, then release him. By then the continent would be full of new heroes, and the male lead would be yesterday’s news.
However, her thoughts were beautiful, but reality was cruel. One evening, the imprisoned male lead was d*mn well rescued by a mysterious expert!
Excuse me! That was stomping on the Supreme Commander’s head.
Xing Ge, who had been sitting with her legs crossed teasing the chick, instantly became furious. She grabbed her weapon and went to fight.
The chancellor was already ahead, robes billowing, immaculate as an exiled immortal. Xing Ge was almost blinded by the sparkle.
In truth…
Mysterious Man: “Yo, the renowned Blood Young Master is doing pretty well here, huh?”
Yu Ge: “Do not be jealous. Jealousy makes people ugly.”
Mysterious Man: “…If I could beat you, I would have flipped the table ages ago.”
Yu Ge: “You already look bad enough. Flip that face and you will never find a wife. I advise against it. Not that you will get the chance.”
Mysterious Man: “…”
The gentle jade-like chancellor glanced in distaste at the soot-smeared male lead. “Do not tell me you are so desperate you are raising a child-spouse now. This… quality. Could you not choose better? Eye sore. Hard on the teeth.”
The mysterious man exploded. “Bah! Stop looking down on me! I like the kind who are gentle and graceful, lovely and demure, good at running a household, and when they lower their heads they blush like a breeze through willows: rich, noble, young, proper ladies!”
Yu Ge’s “oh” was arctic. “Then enjoy lifelong bachelorhood.”
“…”
That arrow went straight to the heart.
“By the way, Yan Hongwen is coming. You had better ride your bird and scram.”
“That is not a bird. It is a phoenix! Do you understand? The noble king of all birds!”
“Still a bird.”
“…”
Another arrow, right to the knee.
Just when the mysterious man reached peak despair, Xing Ge arrived at the chancellor’s side.
The two of them tacitly dropped the secret voice transmission and adopted the posture of a proper standoff.
“You alright?” Xing Ge gave Yu Ge a once-over. With that delicate frame, she worried a stiff breeze might blow him away.
Pale as a lotus, hand over his chest, he answered softly, “Rest easy, Your Majesty. Only a single palm strike. I am temporarily unharmed.”
Mysterious Man: …
You b*stard, he did not even attack, okay?!
Xing Ge shifted her gaze to the other side.
A masked figure in black sat cross-legged with swagger on the back of a phoenix. Han Qian was tied to him, unconscious.
She frowned slightly, as if pondering something deep.
Both men tensed.
Was she gathering some terrifying technique?
Yan Hongwen was no ordinary man. Across the Flame Continent, no one else held both the status of supreme monarch and Golden Core cultivator, dragon veins in his body and heaven’s favor on his head.
Because of him, the Yan Kingdom stood first among the Flame Continent’s nations and alone represented the region in Ten-Continents, Three-Islands deliberations.
Xing Ge’s face turned solemn. “May I ask a question?”
The mysterious man automatically took a fighting stance, ready to shed blood if needed.
“Please,” he said, steadying his breath.
“This bird… where did you buy it?”
“What?!”
Xing Ge’s eyes shone. She was almost drooling. “Look at that stunning plumage, those gemstone eyes, that aloof, untamed silhouette. Exquisite. Is it male or female? Does it have a partner? I could introduce one. A bit ugly, yes, but very gentle!”
She had been worrying herself sick about finding a match for her “ugly child.”
“Huh?!”
The mysterious man lost it. He toppled headfirst off the bird.
He smashed through the roof and plunged straight into the prison below.
Also, the rope at his waist was tied to Han Qian.
“Ah! Pervert!”
A crisp slap rang out from below.
Xing Ge: “…”
